No, it was a bit too chunky for what I was after, and I also wanted the guaranteed performance of Windows RT. An i5 is probably fine, but I still worry that an Atom (or equiv) will get bogged down with full fat Windows.

I think the crazy thing is that, leaving the OS aside etc, Microsoft has really been pushing the touch cover as an advantage over the iPad (see the first TV commercial for the Surface) and they are going to charge $100 dollars for the cover? No way.

Indeed! But I wonder how much Apple charge for their hideous looking cover-stand... holyshivballs! £169! And it doesn't use proper keys. And doesn't have a touch pad. Or a fingerprint reader.
