Let's see what happens! Not too long till the new season but could be a while before the post Ecclestone Era begins is earnest (as he'll still be around...). Nice to hear Carey say F1 needs to be run differently and needs a fresh start

For this coming season: interested to see how these cars look and how the tyres hold up as well.

A good summary of the changes is here:

http://www.bbc.com/sport/formula1/38530543

What concerns me is the increased aero, that's what disrupts the cars from keeping close to each other and it sounds like it's going to be worse with these rules. The tyre changes seem fairly minor in practice, I was getting mixed up with the proposed wheel changes one of the other tyre manufacturers had suggested. I still find it odd that the F1 cars have such little wheels and big tyres whereas pretty much any other motorsport, including the similar LMP1's have much bigger wheels and small tyres.

Edit - Did a little reading and the 13in rim is an old rule that was initially set to limit how large a brake rotor the teams could use, Pirelli did suggest moving from a 13in rim to an 18in rim (the same as the LMP1's use) a couple of years ago:

Yep, looks pretty swanky and super slim at the back.

McLaren's new orange beast (well let's hope it is) out also.

Wish they would get rid of those um, protrusions on the end of the cars... Good to see Merc don't have one again. Those 'fins' at the back of the car will take a little getting used to when viewed side on as well.

Looking good at pre-season testing for McLaren so far: 1 lap and an oil leak.

Not sure if it was a good race or not as I fell asleep during the highlights! Saw the start, bits of the middle and the end though... Maybe pointing towards an average race. Good to see some competition at the front between two teams though.

My brother who is an F1 fan watched it and thought it was a dull race.

So, a couple of more races had. A fairly boring one and then a not so boring one but maybe still was, kinda. Hmmm. At least Alonso is happy! :?

Well, I can reuse the first part! And the end. Maybe the middle bit too! Can't really remember the Russian GP now but well done to Bottas. Watched the highlights of Spain and it felt like a good race - was highlights but some good battles until Hammie zoomed past with the DRS open.

It's taken a while but I'm starting to quite enjoy the C4 presenting from Steve Jones. Remember when watching the Russian GP it seemed to work well and some nice comments/interjections between him and DC.

And Alonso is zooming round an oval at the mo. P7 in Qs was good. Wondering what Button is thinking for Monaco now...

No Le Mans drive for Alonso next year although these things can change...not long to the big race:
