Yeah, I wonder how much the charts would change if streaming was taken into account. Hard to add in though as downloading an album as a playlist is one thing but then if a play a song (as a 'cd single') how does that affect the charts? And other albums I just stream and don't download for offline play. Hmmm, I'll let someone else figure it out.

Nine Inch Nails - Came Back Haunted

Just released, from the forthcoming album Hesitation Marks, out on 3rd September.

NiN are playing Reading and Leeds this summer ... if their new Tension tour crosses the pond in 2014 I will be going, with an unbroken run of UK gigs to keep up.

Nine Inch Nails and Peter Murphy - Reptile (Live)

From the 2006 radio session with the Bauhaus singer. Slick, mellow and trippy remix of the original.

Not listened to it yet but have downloaded this podcast http://www.bbc.co.uk/podcasts/series/dh

The Digital Human

Aleks Krotoski charts how digital culture is moulding modern living. Each week join technology journalist Aleks Krotoski as she goes beyond the latest gadget or web innovation to understand what sort of world we’re creating with our ‘always on’ lives.

Sounds interesting and liked the Aleks Krotoski presented programme from a year or so ago on tv about the virtual revolution.

*edit - ok, apparently that tv programme was from early 2010... :o

Bit of a necro, but hey, this is what I just listened to.

The ringing and muffling of my hearing's self defence mechanism finally fading away, after an all out audio assault by Nine Inch Nails at the LG Arena on Sunday.

Visceral, stripped down, relentless, a spread spectrum of classic and new. Who put 12 on the dial? A power set of twenty songs in an hour forty and just turned 49, at three years younger I take off my hat to that.

Simply an outstanding live fusion of music, visuals and technology. The best live performance I've seen since ... the last time they were here.

Avicii remixes his own album. Asks the internet to help make the videos. in come's a lego animator with a dremmel. Boom - excellent remix, cool video!

(sadly lego dont like the video as its too violent so they have removed it from youtube - but the daily motion still has it)

David Bowie - The Next Day Extra -

An outstanding album from one of my lifelong favourites and an unforgivable omission from the car stick for too long, now corrected. Gems like this speak for themselves.

Manic Street Preachers - Futurology -

Another one of my lifelong favourites, although I'm finding this latest album a struggle to reconcile with the critical acclaim. To a significant degree, the enduring and endearing inability of The Manics to sound like anyone but themselves makes them what they are.

However, Futurology's homage to dreary Euro pop seems like a grasp at something different for its own sake and serves only to dilute their signature of grand orchestral rock protest. The net result sounds as if The Manics are starting to grow as old in spirit as they are in body, something I am beginning to wonder after the subdued and introspective Rewind The Film, but hope otherwise.
