Hmm, worst thing about that trailer is the music.

They should have used the score from the anime film, but then I guess loses some popular appeal.

It's obviously a popular trend at the moment to take classic tracks and slow them down which I think does work well in some cases but I don't think it fits the theme here, it seems odd to Americanise the main actress and the music but then try and keep some of the original authenticity. Years and years ago before we had Sky at home it was one of the perks when going on holiday that they usually had MTV, when we were in France in the late 90's Wamdue Project released their track King of my castle for which they had a music video made up entirely of Ghost in the Shell footage:

My brother and I saw it many times and loved the footage but of course being pre-internet had no idea where it came from until later, even now I still like a lot of the distinctive artwork and while you can see a lot of the shots are identical it just doesn't seem the same.

I actually like that stripped back remix of Depeche mode! And as they say, the song was out when the film was originally released, as well as words like violence breaking the silence sort of fitting in with the theme.

Really need to rewatch the anime. Not seen it in years! Tho the trailer isnt great!

Also wamdue project! I never consider John as a veteran of house!

I rewatched it about a month ago as it happens.

Still excellent!

I'll remain open minded about the film, but not getting my hopes up. Hollywood remakes do not have the best track record as they generally seem to misunderstand what makes the originals so good in the first place. It does have my favourte ever director in it (Takeshi Kitano), so has that going for it).

Also, saw Arrival yesterday. Thoroughly enjoyed it and the time flew by.

Very Interstellar thematically.

Is the new The Mummy film with Tom Cruise a remake or just the same name? I'm guessing there's a few The Mummy mummy films. Maybe a few in the blue movie vein also...

It's all part of the shared 'monsters' universe that Universal are creating. They plan to have Frankensteins and Draculas and all that jazz going on.

Suppose I should er, see the original. Although there are about a gazillion versions of it... theatrical, extended, director's cut. Ok, at least three.

I think just watching whatever one you have available would be a first step. But, I dunno, I'm sure Bing will tell us though: http://tinyurl.com/z6k2gmj
