Rechargeable led torch

Postby Johnmcl7 » 17 Sep 2016, 17:26

Your needs are obviously different to mine as I want a lot of power and easily replaceable batteries :)

Have you looked at Fenix at all? I'm not familiar with their range but I've recently picked up a double LED head unit of theirs for my bike rather than one of my super cheap Chinese ones and I'm impressed with it. The cost was a fair bit higher than my usual ones at £70 without batteries but still not that expensive for what it is and the quality is very good, the case is nicely machined, the batteries sit snug inside and the reflector/beam shape is well designed.

Yup, just looked at fenix uc40 ultimate edition. upto 960 lumens for 1hr 30m or a decent 400 lumens for 3hrs 40m. Uses the Cree XM-L2 U2 LED. And its USB micro rechargeable. Which is perfect for me with my Anker 6 port charger.

How is it size wise for you? It seems a good package as it's the XML2 lights I use for mountain biking as it's a compact LED that's power efficient and bright which is good enough to light up the trail when taking it at speed where it's important to be able to see the actual detail. This is the new double Fenix unit on the front and another XML2 unit on the helmet:
