Techpond london meet up

Postby Johnmcl7 » 15 Aug 2016, 12:29

Robin and I have decided we need to do this again this year, Isle of Man seems a good option to try and get Chris involved.

Luton -> IOM no longer runs. It's London City or Gatwick for southerners.

Douglas is a bit of a mini London and has everything you need, overpriced mediocre food and beer, like London, it's also the worst part of the island, like London. Don't believe John he's just trying to justify the really expensive boat fare so he can enter a bike race :D

In all seriousness coming over here for a meet up is not a great idea, the food is expensive and hit and miss, the pubs are at best average and expensive, the tourist accommodation is almost universally over priced and run down and the cost of getting here is prohibitive. It would probably be cheaper to meet up in Scotland, with the added benefit of not being in London.

I am in London for a day in October before heading out on holiday, but it's a Thursday and I've no idea what has been planned. The missus was talking about trying to take the car over sometime in the new year maybe stay in the Lake/Peak District, maybe up to Scotland. According to the internet halfway point between London and Inverness is Penrith on the edge of the Lake District.

I'm just waffling now.

I'm getting a strong vibe to go to the Isle of Man, sounds good.

I had a short holiday in Penrith with Jake a few years back around Easter time and it's a very pretty area although much busier than here which felt a bit odd as a lot of the scenery is similar.

Russ has suggested in the Blog but thought the convo could continue here if people fancy it. IOM is looking unlikely at the moment...

I'll be in London end of Nov for birthday drinks if anyone's about and fancies partying till the early hours! W/e of 26th.

I was wondering if techpond peeps wanted to meet up for a meal or the new star wars or something tbh! As it was nice last time and there's the night tube now!

So we can look for a date for that. And I'll see if I'm around for you bday!
