Googlecast devices

Postby Johnmcl7 » 27 Mar 2015, 21:59

I've been thinking of getting a second Chromecast as it's getting very handy just being able to chuck stuff onto the TV although now that there's a few other devices supporting Chromecast I was wondering if there's any worth looking into. I've got a WDTV Live which supports it well but the startup time is atrociously long, there's the recently released Nexus player but at £80 it seems expensive for what it is. I tried to find a list of Googlecast devices to see if there was anything interesting which caught my eye but I can't see any such list so thought I'd see if anyone had seen anything worth considering.

Do you not have DLNA on your TV? I just use that to link to the NAS. If not, I think there are some DLNA apps in the play store that will cast.

I'm wanting the device for streaming video although I find DLNA is too hit and miss for local video anyway.

Aside from the Xbox not supporting casting, there's no way I'm buying another one for use upstairs.

Only got a couple of standard chromecasts, and they do what I need so never really looked into anything else.

I'm definitely leaning that way Jim, well I was from the start but thought it worth checking if there were any other options I should be considering.
