My other laptop has downloaded and will be upgraded tonight.

The SP3 only took 30 mins to upgrade which was pretty good I thought.

the parents PC is criminally slow and reading the other thread, the idea of a SSD + win10 updgrade make sense.

would I need to:
install new SSD
install win 7
free upgrade win 10?
plug in old HDD and copy old documents / photos to new SSD?

The download simply isnt working for me. i've done all the fixes about wiping the download files and forcing the windows update again, all to no avail. i'm now downloading a 4gb installer from microsofts website to see what that does for me!

Not checked to see what happens with those on the TP or if what I've got is definitely the 'full' release. Minus the 1gb day one patch that is. Will see id my Stream tab gets the upgrade too.

Matt - from my understanding, yes. Will be doing similar once I'm able to download the w10 iso for installing on my laptop using the sdd I bought the other week.

Maybe some download solutions in the comments here: http://www.windowscentral.com/windows-1 ... ger-update

I downloaded from here: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software ... /windows10

took about 2 hours (no idea why as it wasnt downloading anything!) then about 20 mmins to upgrade.

After the upgrade i had to reboot as the mouse didnt work. its working now, but scrolling is now the opposite way to windows 8. grr.

just testing all the software now.

Scrolling may be as on the mac the default setting which is "natural"?! And I hate...

yeah, i changed the settings for the touchpad drivers to invert and smooth scrolling and its a hell of a lot better.

The elive stuff doesnt work in photoshop at the mo unless the edge browser is open. apparently this is down to the lack of IE, so Adobe are looking into it.

But other than that, its all looking good.

Cortana however is shiv.. she's useless at doing pretty much everything that i expected her to do! she doesn't understand half the stuff that google does! Dont think i'll be uing her much!

What have you tried asking Cortana to do? I rarely use it on my phone but when I do it's just simple stuff like set an alarm, create a reminder, ask her to sing me a song etc and that works fine. Not tried it on my laptop.

Failed install using the tool on the Stream 7. Have downloaded the 32 and 64 bit versions as an ISO and currently burning that to disc.

Probably doesn't understand Manx.

I haven't had my Windows 10 notification yet. Started up my computer last night and there was nothing this morning. Is everyone supposed to get it, or is it a phased roll-out?

It's a phased roll-out. You should get it soon enough. PC at work had the notification about w10 a few weeks ago but hasn't started downloading it yet.

Or just follow Ras' link above to download it straight away.

Well, the trackpad went again last night! but the machine to sleep, woke it up and the mouse had vanished! Plugged in my gaming mouse and rebooted twice. still no love. had to reinstall. but then the scrolling was knackered again! Ran a driver update and its all working again now.

Everything seems to be working well so far. wireless is improving. Battery seems to be longer?

So the word Acrimonious was used in friends and i thought, "i cant remember what that means". So i asked cortana. After 6 tries it finally recognized my voice and came up with the following result.

I went to the google homepage and without touching anything asked "ok google, what does acrimonious mean?" and it came up with the following result.

So basically google likes me more as it can understand my accent! So think i'll stick with ok google!

Exactly the same answer for me on both. Worked first time. It is your voice!

Also, I went to Google.com and had no urge to touch myself. Dunno why you felt the need to share that moment of restraint with us.

Took 5 attempts but finally worked, after i turned off the "learn my voice" stuff. Google just works. must have better recognition technology.
