Re: New phone for 2013?

More epilogue than Lazarus, I did finally get a new phone in 2013, for Christmas.

A factory new HTC HD2 T8585 ... technically brand new, even if the wrong side of three years old.

What can I say? Nothing else came close to stirring inspiration, in fact quite the opposite ... which is why I ended up renewing my HD2 with another one.

Haha! Awesome! Although it does make me feel wasteful for all these phones I've had since the HD2.

hi all, I'm back.

Struggling to figure out what I do for a phone in 2014.

I have a work 5C which I don't think I can really use for personal use without getting into messy expense claims.

I believe I have an updgrade coming up. I'd be happy to keep my 4s and £10 a month for another year but also need to get the mrs an Iphone at some point.

Does anyone have any experience getting two phone lines on the same bill and if so is it worth me trying to cash in on an upgrade?

Ta, Matt.

Being apple I wish you luck. Whenever I or my friends have got a second sim there has always been an incentive, either a better upgrade or cheaper contract.

Well its getting to that time where I cannot wait any longer to get a new phone and I am looking at the alternatives.

Currently wondering whether to:-
1. Jump onto the iPhone 6 bandwagon. - Expensive but pretty and a very outdated resolution.
2. Jump on the Galaxy S6 Bandwagon (cannot see what is useful about the edge) Not a huge fan of Samsung.
3. Sit it out with the L930 to see if Microsoft ever release a new Flagship model rather than the cheap and limited crap they keep churning out.

I am getting tired of the terrible MS Store and second rate versions of Apps compared to iOS & Android.

Decisions~?

I'm personally waiting for new Nexus phones that will come along with the fresh update of Android.

If I was going to pick from your choices above, then it would have to be the Galaxy S6. Much better than the old Samsung's which I have never liked.

I don't think hanging on with Microsoft is an option as there's been a few articles recently saying that Microsoft are going to be focusing more on services for IOS and Android at the moment rather than their own platform. It's just speculation but I'll be surprised if there's another high end phone any time soon, financially the cheaper phones make sense as they're not really competing with IOS at all (at least brand new sales) and WP's high level of optimisation

Well, i have a work iphone and a personal S6 edge. The iphone is horrid. i hate it!

The S6 edge is a superb phone in theory. The camera is 2nd to non, its fast and the screen is amazing. Although the edge adds nothing to functionality that i'd miss, it feels amazing in hand.

The main issue with the S6 is the battery. But that's apparently being addressed in the next android update as its affecting a lot of newer phones.

what about the normal s6 not the edge version, no one mentioned it :)
note 4 is great, huge battery life and removable battery and "2nd to none" as ras says for the camera and video recording
what about a blackberry? :) lol but no really, classic with os10 is great, latest os is very smooth and it can run most android apps, battery is good enough but not removable

I hate BlackBerry with a passion and refuse to ever own one of their devices.

I saw that about Windowsphones as well John. Its very disappointing. WP has just stumbled along like at drunk at closing time. I love the interface and UI and its my favourite but there are getting to be too many compromises in owning a WP based device now.

I and looking primarily at the S6 or S6 Edge with a small sideways glance at the HTC and I just dont need a Note 4.

I thought I read somewhere of one or two alleged w10 flagship phones last week but can't find the article. Maybe I was dreaming.

If you are serious about getting an iPhone it might be worth waiting for the 6s at this point. It's "only" 8ish weeks until it will be announced, based on their normal release schedule, and in the mean time Microsoft might announce something.

I do like the look of the new Windows phones, depending on what windows 10 brings to the Xbox I might be tempted to pick up a mid range Lumia a 7 or 840.
