Anandtech: Sandy Bridge preview

Postby Johnmcl7 » 28 Aug 2010, 12:19

AT have a Sandybridge preview up, this is their new architecture to replace Nehalem which amongst other improvements integrated the graphics card into the CPU rather than alongside in the same socket:

It all looks good apart from them unbelievably replacing both their new sockets, both 1156 and 1366 are going to be replaced by new and completely incompatible sockets. I realise expecting Intel to maintain a socket is daft anyway but it's still annoying as I'd hoped to be able to move to a reasonable six core set up at some point without a new motherboard. It also looks like there are overclocking issues with the new processors as well.
