Need a bag

Postby UKIan on 27 Jul 2010, 09:33

I need something to carry my new camera in, I'll have three lenses in totals, a longer telephoto, fixed 50 and small telephoto.
I'd also like space for laptop, 13-14" and sundry power supplies and a drink and a sandwich. Any ideas where to start?

Crumpler do some very nice looking bags - the half photo would probably be a good starting point - have a browse on their site to view the full range.

i went for the Lowepro Slingshot 100 AW. i have 1 telephoto, 1 kit lens, and a prime. all fits nicely. has a pull out water proof cover. and slings on 1 strap, so you can s[pin it round and easily get out the camera without putting the bag on the floor.

the 200AW is bigger, and the 300/400AW take a 15" laptop in as well.

All in all V happy with it as a bag!

Yeah a bit more :) You never know though, did you ever have one of those Rock Pakuma's? I had/have somewhere the giant K3 rucksack, which I could practically use as a tent it's so damn big !

yeah i have an Akara K3 too which i have hardly ever used as never really took the 17" Rock XCT anywhere. I use the Pakuma Choroka K3s for my M1330 everyday thoughwhich has been fantastic

I just arrived back from Scotland with my ancient 17" Rock in it's K3 backpack. I initially took my whole desktop setup, but having had to return home after 4 nights as my son's date for surgery came up, when I headed north again, I couldn't be arsed to take it all to bits once more. Both K3 and Rock performed well and my XTi still managed a decent game of Left4Dead2 (offline), as well as all our photo viewing requirements.

My camera bag says it is a Lowpro Mini Trekker and it did good service, especially with it's hood up in some of the rain. It has plenty of room for our big camera, weeny cameras, netbook and assorted clobber. Only complaint is that it does make me sweat where it touches my back. Not a show-stopper but fekking cold when you put it back on after using the cameras. Has done very good service over the last few years and although a little grubby looking, remains as good as new.

I picked up three other bags from Tescos. They were, a very very basic, black back pack. Very thin, very light, space for a laptop. About 3 quid I think. Then a slightly more advanced one that has a little more space and also a narrow one that has space for not much. It had a bladder and fieding tube in it which I removed.
