warranty and upgrades

Postby Vaughn » 07 Aug 2008, 21:56

Hey,

Would my warranty be void if i upgraded the RAM in my X770? To do this i would have to remove the warranty stickers to remove the screws from the access plate, would the removal of these stickers void the warranty? Its just i read somewhere companies cannot restrict users from doing reasonable upgrades?

Thanks,

Vaughn

Rock did say it would be ok a while back.

Not sure where stone would stand on it now though.

I'd drop in a support ticket to make sure - you'll probably need to keep the original sticks in case you need to send it back.

Rock wrote:You are quite welcome to upgrade the RAM yourself. Removing the stickers and panel itself won't affect your warranty, although if you break anything inside the machine whilst doing it, this will not be covered of course.

Just another quick word as well, if you take any of the existing sticks out of the machine, keep them safe, as if your machine ever needs to come into us for repair you will need to revert it back to original configuration before we can look at it.

If we can be of further assistance, please let us know.

Best regards
