Realtek Digital Output?

Postby Vaughn » 17 Jun 2008, 23:39

Hey,

In control panel>sound>playback tab, on my x770, what is the function of the 'Realtek Digital Output/Realtek High Definition Audio' device?

The realtek hd is your normal sound output through speakers or headphones, The digital output is when you are using digital surround sound through the black port.

Can I ask the same question but with regards to the "Digital Output" on a Peg 670?

Exactly the same answer. But on the 670 I think the headphone out and the Digital out are the same plug and it switches automatically depending on your settings.

Do you know if there is an internal connection from the sound card to the video card (via spdif) so that the DVI output can be used to do a DVI-HDMI connection and transfer both sound and audio.

Ive read that some ati cards offer this function and that Nvidia ones are capeable of it but it relies on a internal connection from the spdif on the sound card to the appropriate header on the gfx card.

I wouldn't have thought so in all honesty. Rock support should know though.

Fairly certain there isn't a way to send the audio over the dvi d socket. But if you find a way please let us know!

I've never heard of DVI carrying audio, only hdmi which needs the internal audio connection.
