Gaming Laptop Under £800

Postby Johnmcl7 » 06 Jan 2017, 20:50

I've not seen anything great recently, at the moment it's only older 950m laptops in that price range rather than the newer 1050 - it's worth keeping an eye on the computers section of HUKD:

The Dell outlet is currently 20% off although stock is low and I've no idea if they've any gaming laptops that can squeeze into your budget.

I didn't have much luck looking for stuff around that for the missus, ended up picking up a HP Omen with an i3 and a 950 for £500ish. Nowhere near the spec I wanted but she seems happy with it and for the money it does what she wants.

The new 1050 and 1050ti is bringing out very good bang for buck laptops! Even Dell have a decent one!

That sounds a reasonable price for the spec as a lot of the 950 laptops seem overpriced at the moment with the new 10xx machines out.

Considering gaming laptops brought most of us here, who on the forum still has a gaming laptop?

I'm a bit sad to say no gaming laptops here and none for a long time now as the Dell XPS 2 (Pentium-m 2Ghz and Nvidia 6800 Ultra) was the last proper gaming laptop I had and used, I had a couple of others since then as they got quite bulky and the desktops really opened up the performance gap. I've been impressed with the new mobile 1060 and 1070 graphics cards and considered a machine based on one of them but realistically I don't think I'd get the use out of them.

Nowadays my most powerful laptop is come to think of it my Lenovo X230 work laptop with its 35W Core i5 followed by my ulv powered Dell Latitude E7240 which never gets use at it runs too hot and then a trio of 5W Core-m powered machines which I like for their balance of performance and silent running.

Gaming Laptop Under £800

I haven't owned a gaming laptop since my Rock XCT now and the most powerful laptop I have is my Core I5 powered Surface Pro 3 which is getting on a bit. Even my desktop is over 6 years old now!
I have been thinking about upgrading the desktop as the son plays a bit on this although he spends most of his time playing Football Manager or on the Xbox.
