It seems a lot like WindowsRT again. I'm not sure what they have done differently to try to make this a success this time, though.
Perhaps they just need better marketing so people know what they're buying. At least it can be upgraded to full Windows.

"Lots of people seem to think Windows 10 S is just another attempt at Windows RT. But it's definitely not."
Of course, you need an opinion piece from the WindowsCentral guys to set you straight/inform you!

(Also, not sure why Vivaldi directs me to the what appears from the url to be the mobile site)

"So why is Microsoft doing the same thing again with Windows 10 S? It isn't ... at least not exactly."
Well, no, they're using an S. I guess they, alphabetically, left it out before in Windows R(S)T, so they are righting that wrong.

As a child I used to be slightly miffed/annoyed at why R came before S, then T. And that it wasn't T, S, R. Not sure why apart from R being the best letter in the alphabet obvs, but don't know why S was so pivotal...

Weirdly, as a child, I was annoyed that T came after R and S, I thought it diminished its power, whereas T is clearly better than R and S. And the LMNOPQ part of the alphabet is like the interval act before the second half and thus T should be at the top of recommencement of the alphabet-show.
(Actually I didn't think Q was really part of the interval, more of a prelude for act 2, but no one cared about Q, so it could never have any influence).

Tappy wrote:Source of the post Even with discrete graphics, the Surface Book will still be lacking compared to a proper laptop when it comes to graphics. It's 'only' a 1GB, 800M series graphics card (yeah, great for a 'tablet') so although you can game (or whatever else one uses a GPU for!), you'll always be compromising to the guy sat next to you with his 13" Asus or Alienware.
So, I bought a Surface Book! I've been missing a laptoppy type device for a while and whilst I thought a Surface Laptop would be good, I found the current discounts on the Surface Book too tempting and the ickle graphics card seemed like a good thing if I did fancy a smidge of gaming. Only arrived yesterday, so I've only had chance to set it up but it's an absolute beauty. It's the i7 256GB one I opted for.
Hmmm, need to decide on a name for it...

How much did that cost you with the discounts?

I'm too embarrassed to say.

Runs nice though. Installed Civ on there for some touchscreen action.
