Even better, just got my confirmation email from topcashback.co.uk for the £85 monies i get for ordering it! takes it down from £1400 to £915 all said and told!

Granted, i know its not as beastly as the i7 beast was. but its a good comprimise for portability and power!

Hope you and Steve have a happy life together, and let me know if it doesn't work out and I'll give him a nice new home whilst offering you much less money that anyone off eBay would.... ;)

Interested to know how gaming fares on the little beast. I've always thought they could have put something a bit more meaty than a 555M in there, but I am possibly being a bit flippant and the card is more than capable given the size of the laptop. I wouldn't turn one down, put it that way!

Interesting, how warm does it get in use, and how heavy is it?

Just been spanking l4d2 on high everything. Got up to 65c. The fan is loud, but no more than the m1710 was! Its heavier than you think, but its portable weight still!

And yes, the night shot was by request!

No no, how warm in the, does it end up with a boiling based or warm wrist rest? It can go molten inside, I'm only bothered if that translates to excessive body transfer.

Well, the top left gets hottest. but the paml rest and keyboard stay ok. not sure i'd want it on a lap at full pelt! I think battlefield 3 will get it warm tho! But people have used stock drivers and got the beta on high at 40fps, which is pretty good for the GT555M i'd say!

Also, contacted dell asking for a free bag as i found MANY people get them free when tehy ask the reps. The said no, but they can refund me £105 instead.

So its gone from:
£1400 (real price with forced upgraded i7 due to stock levels)
£1344 (listed price)
£1199 (Eurogamer offer price)
£1010 (15% voucher price)
£925 (Topcashback £85)
£820 (10% refund of £105 because they cant send me a bag and i threatened to send the machine back!)

Goes to show you, NEVER pay a list price at dell, and always ask!

That's some impressive haggling skills right there. Congrats on the purchase, see you on the battlefield soldier! ;-)

To be fair, if I owned a company and Ras wanted to purchase something off me, I think it would be more profitable for me to refuse to sell him anything.

Yup, new nvidia drivers this morning to get me to 285.62. apparently this will help with battlefield 3! But the proof is in the pudding really! But it did get everything on windows experience to 6.9 for graphcis, 7.4 for processing. but a lousy 5.9 for the HDD! but i need the space!

Do those numbers actually mean anything though? My older 4850 is scoring 7.3 apparently but I'd be surprised if it's faster than the card in your laptop.
