Ooo, so they have! The M11x and M14x are already on the UK site, and a 3D M17x with a Sandybridge, not sure how long that's been there.

Found this article which gives a decent summary: http://www.digitaltrends.com/computing/ ... notebooks/

Alienware is planning to update the existing M11x gaming notebook to sport Nvidia GeForce GT540M mobile graphics and support up to 16 GB of RAM. The systems will still pack a 11.6-inch 1,366 by 78-pixel display, but will offer HDMI 1.4 output to support HDTVs and 7.1 surround sound audio. The systems will also feature second-generation Intel Core processors with Turbo Boost technology, and an option for WiMax 4G wireless broadband.

Well now I'm confused as to what to do!

EDIT: Oh look, you still pay the same number in the US, just with a dollar sign :(
EDIT2: The NVidia 555M in the M14x is a bit weak considering the processor options. Shame.

You can't be suggesting we're getting over in the UK price wise? Surely not!

I know it's only 14", but I would have liked a better graphics card in there. I know it is powerful (ranks higher than my 9800M GT), but they seemed to max out everything else, wasn't there room for the top end ones that Kobalt put in their 15.6" laptops, like a 560M or even a 485M? I guess that extra 1.6" does make all the difference :P

On a related note, AT have put up an M17X review:

http://www.anandtech.com/show/4458/alie ... e-to-clevo

I worry I'm getting old as I'm not that bothered about gaming laptops now but in my defence I don't commute 120 miles a day as I used to and also gaming on my i7 rig at 2560x1440 is very, very pretty so I'm generally prepared to wait until I have time for it. I also adore the Vaio Z5, its gaming credentials are fairly weak but it's an incredible little machine.

I see they have discontinued the M11x with no plans to replace it. It's seemed quite popular, so I would have thought it was a money maker for them.

Not the first time Dell have discontinued a unique, well liked product, leaving a gap in the market though. It's their 'thing'.

I still can't find a good replacement for the M1330. Thinkpad are the only thing that come close.

I'm still baffled that the 13in market isn't more competitive and 15in is still kind of the standard, I find 13in such a good balance and a lot of people have commented on the XPS M1330 and the Vaio Z being a decent size. I was sorely, sorely tempted by the HUKD deal posted recently on the new Z series with the 1080p screen and the i7 processor but aside from the lack of optical drive and a couple of other issues it would have been completely stupid when the Z5 is still running well and the money for the new Vaio pays for a very good desktop.

I do wonder if the M11x did sell well? Hotukdeals can be an interesting measure of how a product is perceived generally as forums like this are obviously specialist and much better informed so we're not such a good measure in that sense. M11x deals on HUKD were generally slated as the machine was categorised as a stupidly overpriced netbook and completely missed the point of it but I suspect that may have been the view of many people. I was tempted by one from time to time but I couldn't justify it at all with having the 11.in TX and the 13in Z series.

As I just mentioned in the blog, Sony now make their 13" S series with a 1600x900 screen. Only comes with SSD which is quite pricey to spec up, but at the moment there's a free upgrade to 8gb ram. The blu-ray drive is also very pricey to spec up from dvd drive but they might have a free upgrade to that later on - like they did when I got my 14" E series. Am tempted to get one as like John, love the size. Starting from £707 http://www.sony.co.uk/product/vn-s-series

I assume this is a Clevo of some sort, very powerful small machine but perhaps too powerful:

The new AW range has been announced without the m11x as expected:
