Rock Xtreme 64 Wireless Card Problem

Postby andy » 21 May 2009, 23:49

Hi Guys

Looking for some advice please. My trusty X64 has suddenly ceased connecting to my wireless network. :( Another notebook connects fine. How can I check if the wireless card needs reseated?

You can check to see whether it appears in device manager and if it has a caution marker against it, or try switching it on and off using the Fn key combination, on my x770 its F11. Also try updating drivers to the latest from intels support site.

The card is listed without warnings in device manager and switching off and on has never helped. I will check drivers are the latest ones on Rock support.

The card picks up networks in the neighbourhood but never mine and won't connect to any. Works fine on ethernet connection.

That sounds like a good idea, I had to do that with a BT home hub the other day, all passwords and everything matched, just wouldn't connect, in the end had to re-enter the wpa2 password into router and then into laptop. You've not got MAC code barring on have you, that would explain why one laptop can connect and the other can't. To reseat the card is very easy, mine just has one screw in corner and out it pops. Definetely update to the drivers from intels site, when I got my laptop from ROCK it wouldn't stay connected to my netgear router, just updated to intels driver and been fine ever since. *touches wood*

Thanks for the advice guys! :D

I let windows manage the connection instead of the usual software and re-entered the key - fixed! God knows why it went wrong but back to happy surfing again. 8-)
