Thowback Thursday - the Gameboy Camera

Postby Johnmcl7 » 04 Nov 2016, 22:42

Dpreview have a fun section each week where they look at a significant camera from the past and for this article they were looking at the Gameboy camera:

This was my first digital camera and was at a time when there's no way I could afford a proper camera, even this one at around £40 was a bit of a stretch. Looking back its quality is absolutely laughable and the Gameboy screen was also terrible but it didn't matter as it was a fun device to use since at the time most cameras were still film so being able to take photos and see them straight away was amazing at the time.

I always wanted one but never did. And a few of the other Game Boy peripherals.

In a similar vein, this was mine:

I think I could only take about five photos before the device was full / battery drained from the flash (I can't remember which).

Considering it came quite a few years after the Game Boy camera, I'm not sure it was actually better!

Fuji slim shot was one of my earliest! 25 1.3mp shots! epic!

Or how about the first handsfree camera for the 7210! When you took a picture it would "send" it to the phone, getting a "received" message. Check, realise its rubbish and reframe and try again!
