3DS game recommendations

Postby Johnmcl7 » 15 May 2014, 00:45

robbo wrote:As you might've read earlier today, I've bought a 3DS XL. Wasn't sure where to put this question and didn't think it warranted a new thread so will ask here as you may have completed said games.

What games would you recommend for the Nintendo 3DS? Could be new or older DS games. Maybe even downloadable games.

Got Super Mario 3D world coming. Will want to get Zelda ALBW and maybe a Lego game but open to any suggestions you might have!

Zelda - Link between Worlds would be my first choice (Ocarina of Time is meant to be good as well), I've had a lot of hours out of Pokemon and Mario Kart is decent as well - it's nothing revolutionary but it's a solid formula and still works fine. If you can get it cheap I enjoyed Starfox64 even though I wasn't bothered about the original on the N64.

Ta for the thread, John.

Luigi's Mansion 2 seems to have some good reviews also so will look into that as well.

This could be the generation I dip into Pokémon for the first time! I fear that if I start, I won't be able to stop!

Yes to all of the above, I want Fire Emblem, but it will be a time suck.

Ridge Racer is good fun, and should be super cheap. Street Fighter was a good port if you are into that kind of thing. Very cheap now too.

Can't think of anything else off the top of my head, but will report back when I do!

Had a lot of fun out of Fire Emblem Awakening, although I think I have got myself into a battle I don't think I can win and I'm not sure I want to grind my characters up to beat it.

The Bravely Default demo was good, if you like that sort of thing, and Zelda is excellent.

Bravely Default does look pretty good. How big are the demos? Does the speed of the SD card matter much or will pretty much any card do?

I think pretty much any card. I changed from the one that was in there to a faster one, and made no difference I could tell.

Not if I never play it! But yes, he will be. I hadn't actually thought about that. The same goes for the Pikachu one and, after a quick search, pretty much all the other special edition ones unless their design in a pattern or a mixture of jumbled up images like the Luigi special edition.

Now I think about it, why didn't they make it them look the 'correct' way up when open?!

It would be like the XPS logo being upside down! The point is to advertise to people! That said our chinese wedding invites open the wrong way too. so maybe its an asian thing.

Didn't some laptops many years ago have that issue - their logos where upside down when the lid was up in use?

Onto downloading games. Anyone here downloaded full games? Looks like I'd prefer to buy 2nd hand and then have the option to resell unless there is a massive discount for the download. Unless it's a virtual console game obviously.

I agree entirely with you Rob, I'd buy full games digitally if they were very cheap (Like Steam sales or bundles) but any time I've looked into the prices were similar to the cartridge price which is ridiculous when as you say the physical version has the option to resell or loan it. Particularly with Nintendo games which tend to hold their prices very well.
