I know it's only 2 weeks away, but I've been eagerly waiting for Mass Effect 3 since... well, Mass Effect. And it'll give me a break from The Old Republic, by playing a game which pretty much looks the same and uses the same voice actors and has the same writers. :|

I'm sort of looking forward to ME3, but 2 left me a little cold. The main story was just far too contrived and full of plot holes, it just spoiled the middle and made a lot of the story of the first one redundant. The middle bit of the game was well written and the characters and special missions were fun, but the first half hour and the last half hour pushed ME3 from day one must buy to "meh, when its cheap" which is a shame.

I see the new Twisted Metal game is finally out which I'm pretty excited about as I used to enjoy the Vigilante 8 car combat games.

I have heard it has some seriously hard bits in it for no reason! Which is putting me off a bit. I liked the old ones but seems to not really have evolved the formula since then so not sure how long it would hold my interest these days.

I enjoyed the story at the time, but that's probably because I'm very forgiving when I've been sucked into a franchise, so just didn't notice. That being said, I played through ME a few times, but have only done ME2 once. So apart from the very start and very end, I couldn't remember the story of the second one.

I found some nice "Previously on Mass Effect" videos summarizing the first two games which helped to refresh my memory (probably shouldn't watch these if you're yet to play them and intend to).

I'm looking forward to Planetside 2. I played the original on and off but it's not really worth playing now as there isn't the critical mass of people online to make it fun. It's strength was the massive number of people you could get going on raids and that people would choose to specialise differently.

Bethesda game - Dishonored.

Not heard of this before, but the trailer looks great!

One line pitch for that game was definitely "Bioshock meets Assasins Creed"

I was looking forward to Sim City, but given the current EA/Origin woes with it, glad I didn't preorder (I'm off on holiday today, so didn't see any point, oh and my flurry of preordering games that instantly reduce in price).

The funny thing is, it's hard to actually find out if the game is any good due to the amount of EA hate, and the fact no one can log into it!

Of course it will all settle down in time, just like how it did with Battlefield 3...

The early reviews didn't seem blown away by it due to the fairly limited space you had to build the city. I didn't really like Sim City 4 at all as I found it too fussy and really not much fun, I was working through tutorial and had to cut down the city budget by cutting school funding and similar which I didn't find that much fun.

It is quite incredible how much EA have shot themselves in the foot by justifying all the complaints about the single player DRM which needs to be online all the time, had it been an offline game with perhaps online activation it's likely they would have had far fewer issues. It's really surprising how much a mess they've made of it given the total and utter cock up they made of BF3, they clearly haven't learnt anything from it.

DayZ Standalone. The finished game is a way off yet, but the sandbox mod used to trial its concepts has been and remains one of my firm favourites.

Judgement is coming!

I wasn't bothered about this when I heard Horde mode was removed, it's really put me off Halo 4 however I didn't realise they've attempted to merge Horde and Beast modes to make a competitive class based multiplayer system. The single player has also been spiced up with horde mode style gameplay integrated, random spawning and mid-game challenges which all sound good. They've also modified the gameplay to speed it up with characters being more mobile, weapon switches and grenade throwing quicker to change the game away just staying in cover all the time.

Seems as appropriate here as anywhere, but with the new graphics card comes the inevitable free games. But I can choose only one...

Assassin's Creed: Unity
Far Cry 4
The Crew

All PC, obvs. I would have preferred to play them all on a console... or in the case of Far Cry, not at all. Think it's gonna be The Crew. Not out for a little while though.

I was a bit MEH on the crew demo, handling was pretty clunky. I can see it going bargain bin quickly with forza horizon 2 already being out.

Yeah, Forza Horizon 2 appeals more... lacking the XBO to play it on though. Of course, these are all Ubisoft games, so they will be bugged to jiggery on the PC anyway. Might just get The Crew because it will look pretty. Then again, this is still a Ubisoft PC game...
