Re: Chris' XPS M1330 Review

Chris, Does the m1330 have Bluetooth or IRDA? I was just looking at dell.co.uk and spec'ing up an Ubuntu loaded m1330 :) I didnt bother with the Bluetooth as I never use it. I dual boot my M1330 with Vista and Ubuntu and use Virtualbox in Ubuntu to run XP to save me rebooting or using Wine to use a...

Re: Rechargeable batteries

Thats more than the cost of a plug and play kit.

Do you already have a plug and play kit? if so just get 2 proper 360 batteries.

Re: Techpond logo

Could do a pond with a robot fishing and a laptop or other piece of tech snared on his line.

Or a pond with the top half of a fish sticking out looking like he is going to type on a laptop with his fins.

How complex/simple does it need to be?

Re: Wireless internet in Ubuntu on a Pegasus 670

mmmm.... I haven't looked at this WUBI installer thingy really as I upgraded from the last version. Heron hasn't given me any problems on the 650, even with the dual GPUs... just detects a change and deals with it. I used wubi to test out a beta of Kubuntu with KDE4 and it worked really well. It ba...

Re: Wireless internet in Ubuntu on a Pegasus 670

Looking at the screenie you posted you can see it is detecting the card. If you right click the network icon you will see if wireless networking is enabled as it will have a little tick next to it. If you left click the same icon it will display if there is a wireless network available and you just ...

Re: Virtualisation advice.

Been having a chat on UbuntuForums and apparently as the virtualiztion process isolates the OS from the hardware it will definitely request activation of the OEM license (which is not allowed by MS) which is a pain in the neck. Looks like I might shrink Vista down to a much smaller partition for off...

Re: Virtualisation advice.

Yeah I turned that option on in my BIOS some time ago but have yet to make any use of it. I have been reading up on the licensing etc and it would appear that OEM versions of Vista do not allow you to run Virtualization legally and that you *may* not be able to activate Vista if you do as it wont be...

MMMMM Lovely.

How about a simple post based one with 5 star ratings, one for each level you attain. The twist is you replace the stars with fish icons.

Re: Wireless internet in Ubuntu on a Pegasus 670

Assuming you have the hardware switched on - Are you using the Gnome (standard on Ubuntu) or KDE desktop?

On Gnome - in the top right hand corner is a network icon - right click this and check the settings and if necessary input the SSID and passphrase/password details.
