Re: Graphic cards

Best bang for the buck is an integrated graphics card as they normally come with the motherboard thus you get graphics performance for nothing ;) Bang for the buck is a tricky one, the 9800GX2 looks good but may be a false economy in terms of power and cooling requirements. Not seen any 8800 GTS 512...

Re: Our desktops

Getting on a bit now, my desktop is an AMD64 3000, 1GB ram, X850XT, pair of DVD burners and four 80GB HD's. It mainly gets used for multiplayer gaming when my brother is home and needs a machine. It's a self built machine which has evolved in pieces which is the best part about a desktop, I have con...

Re: Dell XPS 1730

Dell change their config options more often than the wind changes but the dual 8700's make more sense now.

Re: Novatech X80r BIOS to end keyboard niggles?

Clevo don't allow users to download the bios as the notebook vendor may have customised the bios - Rock for example were putting a Rock splash screen on theirs which obviously wouldn't matter losing but if there's deeper customisation it may be an issue.

Re: Novatech X80r BIOS to end keyboard niggles?

The Rock one was a Clevo bios but I think it fixed the keyboard issue only whereas a similar update from Sager also added some other features like fan control. Novatech should be the one providing it to you as it's their notebook, if you don't get a response on the forum I'd call their support line ...

Re: Music Streaming

You're going to dislike me for this but what they hey...I use a laptop for this purpose, more specifically a broken Dell C400 which is a 12 inch P3 laptop. I was looking for a quiet, low power and compact machine spending a while looking at microatx machines. I came across a pair of C400's both brok...

Re: Dell XPS 1730

Welcome to the forum, please keep us up to date on how your order goes and a review (even a brief one) would definitely be appreciated.

I am curious though, why did you go for two 8700's rather than a single 8800m?

Re: Ranking system

The reverse life was quite relevent to the forum to be honest in the sense that a lot of people are quite 'geeky' (generally associated with computers and technology) and some do spend quite a lot of time on the forum. I'm less keen on the fish/cake idea at the moment as this is something that's goi...

Dear Blog,

Not been able to find a theme yet 'off the shelf' which is suitable so we've decided to go with this one for now and work on the proper theme in the meantime.

Dual core processors and their benefits

(A little out of date now) With Intel now bringing their dual core Core Duo processor to laptops there are more questions being asked about Dual core and its benefits so I think it's time to write up guide explaining what dual core processors are and what benefits they bring So what is a dual core p...
