Re: New Xps 15

At a wild guess could the small unidentified port be mini-display port? http://cdn-static.zdnet.com/i/story/60/19/002391/mini-displayport.jpg" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; I have to laugh about 1080p being a small window on the screen, it just shows what a crazy resolution the scre...

Re: New Xps 15

Well, I've had a few days to play with it and there are some interesting things to report. The big deal of course is the screen, so we'll get to that at the end. The keyboard is really pleasant. I mean really lovely and tactile, nice deep press with an affirmative action and a nice sound. Definitely...

Re: New Xps 15

How much was it? j 1908 quid I think. Just under 2k basically. More importantly it has ARRIVED!! Few initial impressions, I've literally just got it out of the box. You get a tatty Dell briefcase box, but that holds a rock solid shiny case with the actual machine in. Bizarrely the service tag stick...

Re: What have you bought today - VOL 3

The S4 wireless charging kit. Should be here tomorrow hopefully. I hate wires so much, The sooner we can get rid of usb cables, power cables and monitor cables the happier I will be.

Re: Asus Tranformer Trio

Nope, not getting it. Well ok, I am, but it seems like really separate devices glued together. It would make more sense to me if all the storage travelled with it (or perhaps just a large part of it) so you could work on your word document, and then just take the tablet and continue working on the w...

Re: Watch out - Very nasty piece of malware called Cryptoloc

Not necessarily because the AV vendors can only react to malware that is known so they've been updated to protect against the original version of Cryptolocker but it looks like there's been two versions since (one add 388 to the name, one deletes shadow copies) so it's possible for a new variant to...

Cool, do we need this or does normal AV catch it?

this is not an AV but a tool to prevent the virus to run

Re: Microsoft announce their own tablet

Comixology I'll have to look at, I've got a couple of readers on there at the moment as I've got the entire HellBlazer library to get through. They don't work as well as what ever comic reader I had on the Nexus 10 though. Also, with the Nexus, I hold it to read the comics, because I find I'm turnin...

Re: Microsoft announce their own tablet

Civ 5 seems to work fine. I only spent five minutes in it, but it worked smoothly. Interestingly it supports touch, so pinch zooms, etc. This has potential :)

Re: Microsoft announce their own tablet

You have a lot of stuff... I've never really been that interested in the Surface Pro, it's a PC, and for some reason I want my tablet experience to be more tailored to a tablet. And as a PC it will be heavy and have slow start-up times compared to an iPad - or a Surface for that matter. But in the ...

Re: Microsoft announce their own tablet

I've just picked up a Surface Pro 2 (128gig and 4gig ram). I also got the Type cover 2 (Which I think should read Type 2 cover, but that isn't what it is of course.) So it's an i5, Full HD screen. Ports are one full size USB and a micro SD. Apparently there's a mini HDMI in there too, but I can't se...

Re: New Xps 15

Windows 8 was a big step forward for scaling, 8.1 is supposed to be better again so should be usable, it will be interesting to hear what you think of it though. John Yes, I'm still waiting, the delivery date according to the order tracking is the 21st!! even though delivery date on the web site ha...

Re: New Xps 15

Released today, bought one, delivery November. Haswell i7, nvidia 7 series 2gig gfx, 16gig ram, 512gig sad and 3200 X 1800 res screen :) Sweet! It is spectacular. It's the screen I'm curious about the most, Apple does scaling, Microsoft, ... doesn't so much, so we'll see if this is going to be a bo...
