Dear Blog V XV - the blog strikes back

59472 Dear blog, Well I signed up to the Dulux London Revolution bike ride last week. A two day 300km ride around London in May. I am in Estonia at the moment but flying back home later and today. Will be going for a three hour bike fitting tomorrow as I need to iron out some niggles and make sure ...

What TV series have you watched?

I noticed Person of Interest was on Amazon Prime which oddly Netflix didn't have the final series for despite having the original four, the series was canned but the compromise was a fifth series half the length. It's extremely well rated but I thought it was quite rubbish as it had all got too seri...

Stupid Question - Controlling Fan Speeds

Have you had a go at this yet at all? I was on one of my PC's with a load of tabs on fans and cooling so was thinking I should ask.

Stupid Question - Controlling Fan Speeds

For hardware like that I definitely think having a lot of fans is massive overkill as none of it runs superhot so the heat shouldn't be too bad in your case. I'm running much hotter hardware and only have a few small fans and one proper exhaust fan which seems to work fine and mostly quiet.

Stupid Question - Controlling Fan Speeds

Nothing about your questions are stupid or 'newbie', good to see you on the forum. I'm very rusty on this as my desktop beastie is ticking onto an archaic seven years old which is a scary indication of how little progress there is these days but at the same time it's good not to need constant upgrad...

Dear Blog V XV - the blog strikes back

59459 dear blog, Go on then, I'll bite... Have just about started running again with some work colleagues doing the couch to 5k. Reminds me I need to buy entry into the local 10k to keep me honest. Had a great moment this morning running alongside a field with frost on the wall and the sunrise peek...

What you playing at the minute?

Even though I bought the special edition of RDR2 on launch I've yet to play it as I've never really heard anything positive on it after the initial launch hype. I've got the disc version and I'm leaning towards just selling it as I've still got no inclination to play it. I did try the Destiny 2 demo...

Dear Blog V XV - the blog strikes back

Dear Blog, I was about to post something about batteries then realised it was exactly the same as I'd posted above so I'll skip doing it again... Absolutely atrocious weather here yesterday so a good day to unload new IT equipment (2.1 tons work with a couple of new loaded racks) but surprisingly go...

New Alienware M15 - an ultrabook from Alienware?

People don't want machines to be big and heavy but if you're going to have a machine with a lot of performance then it's a necessity - I would absolutely love a thin and light gaming machine if it was possible but there's just no way you can fit high TDP parts like these in such a small chassis with...

New Alienware M15 - an ultrabook from Alienware?

I don't really understand putting a lot of high power parts in a very thin and light laptop, I occasionally toy with the idea of an AW13 or AW15 when I've seen them on the outlet reduced but despite them having much larger cooling systems they have loud fans and run hot. The idea of fitting those sa...

Dear Blog V XV - the blog strikes back

Dear Blog, That's really frustrating you can't get a proper battery and seems an increasingly common problem now as even if original batteries are still available they may have been manufactured the same time as the original battery and won't last the long. I guess on the plus side though the newer ...

What TV series have you watched?

Well finally watched the second series of Luke Cage and thought it was pretty poor, it starts off slow, never really builds up and then fizzles out at the end. I thought Mariah Stokes/Dillard was just awful and given how much she's in the series that's a real frustration. Her daughter spearh...

This years cycling challenge...

I think you'll find a century on the road bike relatively easy given you've done much tougher endurance runs on the mountain bike. I find the mountain bike can be challenging for long cycles as it's hard work to keep it going (although I do run very low pressures) which makes it tougher as you get t...

What TV series have you watched?

The ghost nation episode was definitely the highlight for me as well I thought the actor was extremely good particularly when he finds his wife in cold storage and can't revive her it actually felt quite upsetting and made you forget these are just machines. I also liked that it filled in some o...
