That's going to be an absolutely brutal ride as 100 miles off road is a a big challenge on its own but that's a crazy amount of climbing. I did a ten hour endurance race with that rate of climbing and it was savage as you were either climbing or descending, there were hardly any sections that were r...

59520 Processing... Lightroom or Photoshop to start with? I have never used LR and have not really used PS for well over 5 years and even then it was only a bit of a dabble. Also, does anyone know if you can use either of these on an iPad Pro 11" ? There is some overlap between Photoshop and L...

Smart Watches

I had to do without my Garmin smartwatch for a day after Garmin pushed out a faulty update which killed the software on the phone (thankfully they fixed it the next day), I was surprised how much I missed it. It's so handy each time I feel the phone buzz that I can simply check it with a glance at m...

Well done Chris particularly this early in the season which has still been very chilly at times. I'm surprised you say you need to get onto bigger hills though, do you not find the MTB helps with that? Going up hills is the easier part of road cycling for me although admittedly even with a 50/34 at ...

I finally managed to get the newly upgraded Stache out last night to a trail centre although I was frustrated by my lack of pace as normally I find it easier to go from the rigid to the hardtail as the suspension fork is more forgiving but initially wasn't getting the bike up to the speed it can do....

59504 Yeah I have come to the same conclusion after reading many different articles online. Trying to work out what sort of bag I would like as well. I like the idea of a sling type as can be used when riding too. Looks like I need to visit a shop to check out sizes etc first. I have one of the sli...

To be fair it's been pretty crappy weather for long rides so can't blame you for your lack of training. Facebook flagged up that this time last year I'd done my first century of the year (113 miles) and I'd already had several decent rides in good weather in preparation for the Loch Ness Etape but t...

I've been trying to make more effort to take photos particularly when out on the bike, these two photos were taken when it was pitch black but the camera does a decent job: https://photos.smugmug.com/Events/Velocity-Cafe-Bike-Runs/i-69Jjc2V/0/f84f4939/L/DSC01705-L.jpg https://photos.smugmug.com/Even...

I'd recommend the 35mm over the 50mm as the latter gets pretty long on APS-C (around 85mm equiavalent) which limits its use unless you're specifically needing to shoot at a portrait focal length. The 35mm is around 50mm equivalent which is a good walk about focal length and with a decent resolution ...

What TV series have you watched?

I'm not sure if a feature length documentary should be here or the film thread, here is probably better. Alex Gibney has a new documentary on Theranos titled 'The Inventor: Out for Blood in Silicon Valley' which is an HBO feature that's showing in the UK on Sky Atlantic, previously he produced the A...

I've only done a single Audax that had been organised up here although it was never run again which was a shame as I thought it was great, the atmosphere felt much more like a mountain bike event as people are there to enjoy the event and it's much more chilled out. The cycle round Loch Ness event i...

What TV series have you watched?

59492 I have just finished watching Sex Education. A brilliant series. Once you get your head around the weird 80’s staging but with modern people, themes and mobile phones etc. The writer has a love of John Hughes 80’s high school films. Well written and very funny. Loved it! What would you say it...

59495 Well sod it I just went for it and bought an A6000. Need to do a lot of learning and look at possibly getting a telephoto lense as well I was too slow in posting advice :) I think the A6000 is a great little camera as it's small with the 16-50mm lens (which I think is a great little lens desp...

What TV series have you watched?

No-one has picked up Doom Patrol in the UK unfortunately which is a shame as I liked their part in Titans. Love Death and Robots seems to have got a panning by critics but a lot of praise on social media, I've just watched it all and thought it was fantastic. The series is similar to the Animatrix w...

Comfort in the gentlemen's area is definitely important! How you are getting on now? I saw you were fancying a new bike for longer distance, how is that hunt going? I had a ride out on the mountain bike a couple of weeks ago which was in awful conditions as the ground was drenched and it was cold as...
