Best Wifi?

I've got to help a friend spec a laptop; this is going to be used almost exclusively for web-browsing and email (no gaming or any other heavy duty computing). Connection will always be wifi to Virgin Media (cable). She is looking for the fastest possible and most reliable internet connection - nothi...

Re: Audio out via USB

OK, I've tried that and that appears to be the answer, a bit disappointing that it doesn't do what I was told it would, but there we go - thanks to everyone for the advice.

Re: Audio out via USB

By mass storage it would have to be a flash drive, do you have a headpphone socket on your laptop? If so you could get a 3.5mm to 2 phono lead and plug into an aux or CD or tape input on PA, you could then play through it that way. Re: Audio out via USB

I think I see what you mean John - if this is the case I was misled at the showroom because I specifically asked the question and was told that all I had to do was connect my laptop via the usb and it would play my discs (I want to use it for home bbqs etc and karaoke). By "mass storage device&...

Re: Audio out via USB

No it doesn't detect the amp and it didn't "install new hardware" like it normally does when you add a new USB device. Where do I go to force it to see the new device?

Audio out via USB

Hi Guys, I am trying to rig my laptop up to an amplifier to play mpeg music through an external amplifier. My kit is a Dell XPS M1530 (with no external sound card) and my amp is a PA with a USB module. I have it connected with a USB A/A (male/male) lead but nothing comes through. Is there something ...

Looks the dogs John, hope you enjoy it.
It's got me thinking I need to get into my own garage - there's a bike in there somewhere, under the golf clubs etc.

Re: Airbag motorbike jacket

I am old enough to have ridden (legally) without a crash helmet, and I remember my first road ride on my 16th birthday. 40mph on a moped felt like a million mph, and I felt really exposed. Since then I have always worn a helmet and now I never ride without all my protective gear. The shorts and T sh...

Re: The Great Escape

That can't be real can it? Surely it's got to be someone trying to earn £250 for a "you've been framed"-type video.
I think they are probably in the safest place and less of a danger to themselves banged up in their cell (along with their brain cell each)

Re: HDMI Cable

Check out AV Forums and you will find most people on there say the same as above i.e. no difference in picture quality with HDMI cables - and these are people who will spend hundreds (sometimes thousands) on SCARTs and speaker cable, Even so there are still some who insist on spending a load of mone...

I agree John - I still love the classic line where they want to go to Red alert and Crighton says "are you sure Sir; it does mean changing the bulb"

Re: Dear Blog V9 Mk3

Very pleased to hear your dog has turned up Henry. A year or so ago they had a shoot just down the road from me and the next day there was a sign up by the road that 2 Springers had gone missing, but they also turned up after a day wandering around the fields. Directtv have Samsung 42" plasma o...
