Re: Netbooks - which one?

If price is the main driver you could consider this?

Re: Office Live

This enquiry is kinda prompted by moving my wife over to Linux and Open Office. She likes Office 2007 (as I do, tbh) and given the option of a decent web service could use that, falling back on Open Office as necessary. I could of course install Office in WINE but that somehow seems less in the spir...

Re: Ubuntu 10.04

It is old - the original spec was 256Mb RAM expandable its just having had it so long provided the opportunity to pick up a 1Gb stick cheap at some point. Normally the problem - the OS is fine, but as soon as AVS is loaded it starts to wobble. Two options might be puppy linux (I have used this in th...

Ubuntu 10.04

Loving it! Recently installed it on an old Dell laptop which had a Win7RC install on it. Also just put Netbook Remix on wifes Acer Aspire One. No problems at all so far (*) and haven't had to resort to console once! Looks nicer than previous versions and it has definitely increased the usability. I ...

Re: Connecting multiple xboxs to one TV

Or in fact, this looks like it does what you want with multiple DVI input and a DVI out http://www.holdan.co.uk/TV+One/Multi-Format+Video+Processors/C2-6104" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; I would still be concerned about lag though - anything that needs to process the signal could be...

Re: Connecting multiple xboxs to one TV

Looks like it can be done http://www.holdan.co.uk/TV+One/Multi-Fo ... rs/C2-6204 although this seems to have some fairly exotic inputs and is a bit on the pricey side!

Problem with video capture would surely be lag?

Re: Mass Storage controller Drivers?

What format is the drive under PS3? I had exactly the same problem recently with a drive formatted for Mac - I had to get a piece of software called MacDrive, or somesuch, that would allow me to mount the drive under Windows. I was then able to read it, copy the data off it, format it to NTFS and th...

Re: New Phone For Toddie

What are your requirements? Do you just want to phone and text people? Or is mobile internet and email important? Do you want to view/edit office documents on the move? Personally I like to have a full hardware QWERTY keyboard on my phones, since I simply cannot get to grips with 9 key input, althou...

Re: 2010 - GOOGLE / CES / APPLE

Is it just me? Am I the only sane person in a world gone mad? Surely the ipad looks like a piece of crap? No multitasking? Are you joking me? What millenium are we in? Unless someone can point out something I am missing, if this sells it really does shows that people will buy anything with an Apple ...

Google OS

Hmmm, will only run on a prescribed hardware platform that includes only SSD's? Sounds like a mistake, if that is their strategy, to me?

Anyone looking to buy a car?

Dunno the forum stance on selling so delete if you want John. Selling my Ford Focus 1.4 litre 3-door CL, X plate (2000), 68000 miles, silver, after-sales 5 spoke alloys and low-profile tyres, excellent condition. London area. Going on autotrader for £1800 but would sell for less to Techpond members....

Re: Cat5 Video Sender

Had a video sender before and took it back - didn't matter which channel it output on it nuked my wireless. Ping times became utterly random. Perhaps look into a 5.8 GHz one though. Quite liked the idea of the Cat5 but probably cost the same with less opportunity to use it when we move again.
